Veterans Deserve Their Legal Rights

“…the citizen’s right to consult an independent lawyer and retain that lawyer to speak on his or her behalf is an aspect of liberty that is priceless.” U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens.

The Administrative Procedure Act (APA) mandates that a person compelled to appear before a federal agency is entitled to be represented by counsel or a qualified representative. (5 U.S.C. §555(b))Disabled Vet missing Arm and Leg in wheelchair

Current Law And V.A. Policy Limit The Rights Of Our Veterans

Presently, our military veterans enjoy only limited rights to representation in benefit  disputes with Veterans Affairs, due to restrictions imposed by Congress and the Department of Veterans Affairs own regulations.

Each day, a lack of trust in our veterans’ ability to make decisions for themselves regarding representation places limits on their rights, the rights guaranteed to every U.S. citizen by the Constitution of the United States.
